RESPECT THE MIC! H2 at "Lyrical Exercise" - Open Mic | October 9th

Do you remember the Hard Knock Life Tour DVD, Backstage from 2001? Do you remember the brother who free styled with the biggest MCs at the end with Jay-Z and DMX watching? No one knew his name. For those of us that remember the guy in the suit, his freestyle was a stunning class act. His name is H2. You might know him as Brother Hashim; and he epitomizes the unsung hero’s of Hip Hop. Check out the video:

For the last 10 years, H2 has been taking the spoken word scene to another level!  H2 blends his demonstrated knowledge of street culture, education, and underground hip hop and packages it effortlessly as he delivers a dominating yet charismatic flair from the stage to the minds of the audience; there is never a dull moment.

Every so often, some charismatic wordsmith dominates the scene and stands out from the competition; H2 not only runs over the competitors, but dominates in battles, performances and street sales. H2 is a self contained artist with the ability to produce, arrange and write his own material which makes him the total package to the record label that he owns; Eracism Records. He is an exhilarating recording artist, producer and songwriter and continues to rise from the hip hop underground. Hashim’s next project includes KAM, Gat Turner, Young Khan the Don, DA Smart and others. H2 is the winner of the www.jlsc.com song writing contest for R&B for 2009.

When it comes to Spoken Word and Hip Hop, H2 (Hashim Hakim) is the unexpected spectacle of events.  With romance drama and humor as his ingredients, H2 magically prepares the table for all who come to feast on a good show.

Audiences adore him.
Poets respect him.
Raised from the hells of Chicago, hails the prefix of life; H2 OOH!!!!!!!

A Spectacular Memphizm Weekend!

It's really hard to describe the events that took place on Saturday & Sunday night - all I can say is that if you were not there, you missed some amazing performances, intense energy, exceptional talent, and passion for art.

"Lyrical Exercise" Open Mic - INNER CITY SOUTH

Lyrical Exercise was phenomenal! The spoken word, husband and wife duo, Inner City South brought front and center, as they always do, their southern-style of poetic expression; every performance is ALWAYS powerful and engaging. Other performances included Brother's Keeper, Hannah, 7 (Seven), Hardface, and Hashim Hakim spoken word artist from Chicago/Denver. Guests enjoyed wine, wings and words! lol Check out the videos below:

Memphizm + Mudworkz = "Long Live the King"
There are no words to completely express the performances, energy and excitement of the "Long Live the King" Michael Jackson Tribute on Sunday! The fans showed up and danced wearing glittered gloves, MJ hats, jackets, white socks and penny loafters and every performance was more than AMAZING!!!! We GREATLY appreciate everyone who showed their support and/or shared their talent with fellow MJ fans!

Memphizm teamed with Walter Andrade of Mudworkz and collaborated with talented individuals to bring this event to life. The event was hosted at Zodiac Restaurant & Lounge, and featured the art work of Walter Andrade (Mudworkz) and also art work by Jamond Bullock. Each VIP room was themed an MJ hit such as "Beat It, "Thriller", and "Off the Wall" and featured fitting art work for each room. Guests were able view and purchase these items on exhibit.
Founder of U-Dig Dance, Tarrik Moore was the host for the evening bringing "MJ energy" center stage and DJ Coop was spinning MJ hits non-stop ALL NIGHT!!!  Audria owner/photographer of Nubia Creative Images (NCI) captured this entire event, including fans/guests striking an MJ pose or wearing the 'glittered glove'. The audience witnessed a powerful poem by inspirational poet/spoken word artist, Carin Malone; incredible dance performances by Zephaniah Dixon and Hybrid Performance Group, Marico Flake - U-Dig Dance Academy, and performances by guitarist Ping Rose and violinist Jason Lurry, and an MJ impersonation/dance off by Shamar Rooks. Special shout out to the owners and staff of Zodiac Restaurant & Lounge.
