Entering into the Spoken Word realm in late 2009, William “Jersey” Daughtry quickly swept away audiences locally with his authenticity and exceptional creativity. Though just a rookie, many can’t help but to see him as a distinguished artist. His passion for writing, and reactions from those patrons around him, influenced his commencement into the poetry world. Now that he is here, there is no turning back. His intricate history, passion, affection and complex personality give origin to poems his audience is sure to remember. His genuine spirit and charm provides his onlookers with a sense of inspiration, hope, and a desire to want to hear more. As an up and coming poet, William Jersey Daughtry has seen a numerous amount of victories in slams across the state, claiming victory for more the half of competitions he’s been in, it’s not hard to tell he is well on his way to become a world renowned victor. Although a winner in many areas, he shows through his humility and his faith in God that there is much more growth that is yet to come. Being talented in so many areas brings forth much hard work and expectation, but this chef, poet, father, son, brother, as well as friend to many is well on his way to showing the World how brightly a star can shine through his allocation of words.

Memphizm's Founder and Spoken Word Artist MASTER OF THE SKIES FEATURING @ The HUB!!!

Master of the Skies got his start writing poetry at the age of 15 in 1999 when he was exposed to spoken word by an upper classmen in high school via a poem entitled Time. From that day on he was forever sparked inwardly though he wouldn’t become a serious writer and performer until 22 years of age. At 22 he was convinced to forego Sunday Night Football and attend an open mic at Eyecon Barbershop. Upon attending he was then convinced to perform a poem entitled Trust No One. His raw emotion shocked the crowd because it was completely opposite to his off stage demeanor and in that moment Master of Disguise was born. He was known as Master of Disguise from 2006 until the end of 2008 when he wrote Fuck A Recession. At the initial moment he didn’t see the transition but upon examining the end of the poem which flowed into his possession effortlessly the need for a name change was apparent in the words of the poem. “I see clearly there is no disguise…I am the best of the best the highest of the high.” Simultaneously with the name change came exposure to Black Consciousness through Anthony Browder’s book Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization. That one book sparked an even deeper innate spirituality for Master of the Skies to express through his spoken word. He was referred to by one supporter from New York as being a cross between Malcolm X and Public Enemy. Raw, riveting, spiritual, mystical, prolific, explosive, and ethereal are just a few words to describe his energy, delivery, and words. Every time his pin embraces the page he embarks on a spiritual journey and he invites listeners and readers to travel with him. Master of the Skies, the one who is forever seeking higher heights to express through his spoken words which has organically evolved into more than just words but an entire way of life.

Saturday April 20th 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at THE HUB

*****ALL IN ATTENDANCE WILL BE PLACED ON PRIORITY LIST TO RECEIVE Consciousness Motivation 101 (Master of the Skies' soon to be released album) AT A DISCOUNT*****
